The two articles you read for today are from The New Yorker's Talk of the Town section. How do they differ from a profile? How are they similar to a profile? Which article dos you prefer and why?

In the essay "Why Me" Parker relies heavily on dialogue and secondary research to craft his profile of Baldwin. Why do you think these two things are used? What do they bring to the essay? Are they effective?

In addition, please write a brief summary about who you are profiling and three questions you plan to ask them. When you respond to your peers posts please provide feedback on their questions.

For class today you read Mrs. Kelly's Monster by Franklin. Do you think this is a profile? If so, who is it a profile of? Why? Give an example from the text to support your answer.

We will use blogs to reflect on the reading, writing, and discussion we do in class this semester. Details of blog requirements can be found on the course website under assignments then blogs.  Blogs should create a conversation outside of the walls of our classroom. In addition, be sure to take advantage of the affordances blogs have to offer. Use hyper links to link to material on other places of the web and put images, video, and any thing else available to you in your blog posts. Most importantly, have fun blogging!
